This year the school was nominated for the “Outstanding Progress Award” for the independent sector and we are delighted to announce that St Edward’s was announced as the winner at a ceremony that took place at The Royal Garden Hotel in London.

The ceremony, that was hosted by TV personality Jeff Brazier recognised outstanding achievements in a variety of areas across school life including recruitment, capital projects, ICT, partnerships and of course progress.

St Edward’s were represented at the awards by their Deputy Head – Pastoral, Mr John Lewis who was delighted to accept the award on behalf of the entire school community.

This award is presented to the UK Independent School that has made outstanding progress in the management of its facilities, finances and human resources and can demonstrate an increase in the educational performance of the school.

The judges commented “St Edward’s reputation and results have been growing since the arrival of new Headmaster Matthew Burke who has been shortlisted for a TES Headteacher of the Year award. January this year saw the school become part of the Alpha Schools Group, which has pledged to invest £3m in facilities and provide new bursaries and scholarships.”

The award is recognition not only of the outstanding academic progression the school has made in recent times but also based upon the feedback of students and parents from the school. The judges commented positively on the environment that has been created at the school enabling all to fulfil their potential.

This has enabled the school to not only deliver on some substantial capital projects this year and next year but also provide financial stability for the school providing encouragement and excitement for those currently at the school and those looking to join the school.

For the first time in the school’s history, it will also be offering alternatives to A Level in its Sixth Form provision from September 2023 which has been met with excitement from those currently in Year 10 at the school and their parents as well as generating interest from the wider community.

This award caps off what has been a great week for St Edward’s who on Wednesday this week also announced they had been awarded World Class Award status from High Performance Learning in recognition of the academic and pastoral outcomes of the school and their adoption of this educational philosophy that has seen the school transformed in the last two years.
