Cheltenham Borough Council is one of six district councils in the county of Gloucestershire and serves a resident population of c.117,000. Cheltenham is a historic spa town, known for its regency architecture, festivals, parks and gardens, restaurants and award winning night life.

As a district council, we are responsible for a number of statutory services, including planning, car parks, licencing, health and leisure centres, refuse and recycling and environmental health.

Alongside this, we are working towards a number of high profile ambitions, to ensure that Cheltenham has a thriving economy, a thriving cultural offering and thriving communities.

We are working to make Cheltenham the cyber capital of the UK through the Golden Valley Development, a national first. We will continue the high quality supply of housing and investing to build resilient communities in partnership with Cheltenham Borough Homes.  These projects and all that we do, work towards our climate emergency declaration; a commitment to become a carbon neutral borough by 2030, through our partnership initiative, Cheltenham Zero.

Investment in our communities is at the heart of what we do. That’s why we are working with partners through our No Child Left Behind initiative to ensure that every child thrives. Through the NCLB community agreement, schools, statutory services, charities and private sector organisations work to a collective ethos, a way of working day-to-day, that is rooted in kindness and understanding, setting out a commitment to families that we will work with them.
