Leadership Award

True leadership is a representation of the way you work with your team to achieve goals. A true leader makes an effort to help develop the skills of the team so they can reach their full potential. Nominations in this category could have been long-standing, established business leaders; or newer leaders who are challenging industry norms and disrupting their sectors.

The judges were looking for:

  • A strong track record of commercial success o
  • Outstanding personal ambition and vision.
  • Strong, positive, authentic leadership
  • Evidence of what employees, peers and stakeholders had to say.

Steven Lea, Chartered Financial Advisor at Meta Advisors took to the stage to say a few words and announced the winner!

At Meta, we engage with clients that want to build a clear pathway to their goals. We start by exploring your values, understanding the principles that really matter to you, and looking at how they shape your thinking. This conversation allows us to identify your priorities; meaning we can then base our strategy and relationship around these key tenets.

Many congratulations to the winner Terry Edgell, Premier Forest Products!

30 years ago Terry Edgell set up Premier Forest Products at his home in Cwmbran, with 2 colleagues Nigel Williams and Dilwyn Howells. Today, Terry is CEO of the Group.

Premier is a leading, independent importer and distributor of timber and panel products, operating from multiple sites across the UK with a Head office in Newport, employing over 320 people and with a turnover of over £130m.

Terry’s leadership and strategic vision has shifted the company’s focus from being a pure importer and distributor of timber sheets to offering a much broader range of products to a more diverse group of customers.

Terry’s astute eye for opportunity and quick ability to assess risk and synergies have meant the group have been able to seize opportunities and continually grow organically and through clever acquisitions.

In a world where the CEO can often be remote, Terry consciously rails against that, making time to ensure he stays connected with staff at all levels and regularly  travels the country to do this and is repeatedly cited by staff as the best boss they have ever had.

Many congratulations Terry! A well deserved acknowledged of 30 years of dedication, commitment, loyalty and success, may there be many more!
