Irish inspiration for walking challenge on behalf of National Star

Workmates Claire Smith and Charlotte Davis have set themselves the challenge of walking the 124 miles around the Ring of Kerry, without setting foot on Irish soil.

Keen walkers Claire and Charlotte have signed up to National Star’s ‘Go Far, Be a Star’ fundraising challenge to raise money towards the charity’s Building a Brighter Future Appeal to construct new specialist accommodation for students at Ullenwood.

And when they were looking for a target distance to cover they opted for the 124 miles around the Ring of Kerry, one of Ireland’s most scenic spots. The duo hope to complete their walking challenge in five weeks and have set themselves a fundraising target of £500.

‘We both enjoy walking but towards the end of the year other things got in the way of us getting out and about as much as we liked. The ‘Go Far, Be a Star’ challenge was the perfect excuse to dust off our walking boots for our favourite charity,’ said Claire.

Charlotte and Claire will both cover 124 miles, sometimes walking together, and other times pounding the streets alone or with family and friends.

‘We may not be visiting Ireland to complete the walk, but we will be having the Ring of Kerry in our thoughts and may celebrate with a drop of Guinness when we smash our fundraising target,’ said Charlotte.
