Gloucestershire College Named Finalist in AAC National Apprenticeship Awards 2024

Gloucestershire College has been selected as a finalist in the Digital Apprenticeship Provider category and will compete for the prestigious award at the Awards Gala evening on Tuesday 27 February, at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

Gloucestershire College (GC) has been a key figure in the regional business landscape, delivering industry-led apprenticeship programmes that align with the region’s economic priorities, including the Golden Valley Development.

The college has become a provider of choice for many employers in Gloucestershire and the wider South West region for staff training and development in the digital sector since launching a new suite of six digital apprenticeships in 2017.

As a specialised provider and advocate for cyber security education, the college supports the surging demand for tech talent through development of responsive programmes including the latest Digital and Technology Solutions Professional (DATS) and DevOps Engineer apprenticeships. Its extensive portfolio of IT, cyber, software and digital apprenticeships includes England’s first NCSC-recognised cyber degree apprenticeship and Tech Industry Gold accreditation.

Apprentices thrive training in the college’s state-of-the-art £3m Advanced Digital Academy (ADA), as an expert academic team ensure apprentices meet tech industry demands.

“We are thrilled to be nationally recognised for our work in the digital sector”, said Julie Tegg, Director Employer Training & Apprenticeships

“With Gloucestershire positioned to become the UK’s cyber hub, and the region’s integration into the Western Gateway via the Golden Valley Development, our primary focus is to ensure the current and future workforce is equipped with the skills required to succeed in the fast-evolving tech industry.

“Our partnerships with the West of England Institute of Technology (WEIoT), CyNam and the University of West of England (UWE Bristol) bring together key academic and prominent anchor employer partners to develop future skills in the region.”

The news adds to a season of success for GC, after it’s Carpentry Apprentice, Amy Brown recently took the title of Intermediate Apprentice of the Year in the 2023 National Apprenticeship Awards.

The AAC Apprenticeship Awards are a celebration of excellence in apprenticeship delivery in the UK, recognising outstanding employers, apprentices and business providers nationwide.
