Could you mentor a University of Gloucestershire Student?

The University of Gloucestershire are looking for mentors from a range of industries and expertise to take part in our Professional Mentoring programme, offering 4 – 6 mentoring sessions between January – April 2024.

The programme is aimed at helping students develop their career confidence, build resilience, and support the growth of their employability skills. While we acknowledge that industry specific knowledge has its place and is welcomed, we are also looking for mentors with a breadth of life experience to share with our students. So, with that in mind, everyone has something to offer.

Some brilliant stats to demonstrate the impact of the programme:

  • Before the programme, 46% of students who registered felt confident identifying and presenting their skills and strengths. After the programme, this percentage increased to 86%.
  • One mentor said – ““I really enjoyed being able to give back – but in a more 1-1 manner. It was really rewarding and definitely helped my confidence too!”
  • Another stated – ““My mentee has re-ignited my passion for what I do and can do, and has made me want to learn more about what they do.”

So, it’s no wonder we want to run the programme again, it is a great development opportunity for students and mentors!

All mentors receive a short Mentor Training and Mentor Handbook to guide and support them through their experience, so if you are interested in expanding your coaching and leadership skills, while inspiring the future workforce, please register here by November 24th.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email Mentoring Coordinator Fiona Jones – fjones8@glos.ac.uk.

We are building an amazing network of mentors, and hope that this can continue with your help!
