Michael Donaldson’s New Book a Hit with C2S Team

FROM BARS OF SOAP TO BARS OF GOLD

by MICHAEL DONALDSON

During August there is a little more flexibility to catch-up and do some of the things that you have been wanting to do.  Michael Donaldson’s new book has been sitting on my desk at work and whilst I have been able to pick up and read a few of the chapters I knew i wanted to have time to read more.

I love a good read but sometimes find the time to read a book cover to cover is quite difficult.  What I really liked about Michael’s book From Bars of Soap to Bars of Gold is you can read a few chapters that are maybe relevant to you at the time or that caught your imagination as they did for me. Or indeed an area you are interested in like People (aren’t we all interested in this area?), Products or Process and all the stories and insights that Michael packs in.

It’s an easy read with short short chapters, arranged around topics and the style is like you are having a conversation with Michael and he is telling you a stories about his experiences, and sharing insights and expertise.

For those that like some facts:

51,000 Words         232 Pages      86 Chapters          3 Sections – People, Products & Process

……with an aim to help us with our business improvement goals.

We would highly recommend it!

Having worked in companies of all shapes, sectors, and sizes, with revenues of millions to billions, Michael found that the challenges of business improvement tend to be the same, just with a few more or a few less noughts attached. How to improve the performance of your PEOPLE, the profitability of your PRODUCT and the productivity of your PROCESS. Simply put strategy does NOT have to be complicated, BUT it does have to be deliverable.

Michael has walked the talk and got the grey hairs from having to live with the consequences of his decisions and the actions of his teams, day in and day out, over many years, in many situations. He has grown existing sectors, and created new sectors, launched new products from the basic commodity to the highly innovative. Led multi-disciplined, multi-cultural teams to deliver strategic, operational & behavioural change in the UK, Europe, and Asia – even selling into China, for China to sell onto the UK and US.

This is a valuable go-to resource for leaders looking for practical, proven insights and deliverable how-to tips on everyday people, product, process challenges, and opportunities.
