Willans achieves best legal guide performance in seven years

The 2023 edition of the independent and internationally recognised legal guide Chambers UK has been released, revealing yet another set of impressive results for Willans LLP solicitors’ departments and lawyers.
With five departments and a further eight lawyers ranked by the providers of insight and analysis into the country’s best law firms, the Cheltenham-based firm has achieved its best performance in seven years. The results have come at an exciting time for Willans, which marks its 75th anniversary in 2022.

Willans’ family law team has been top tier-rated for an eighth consecutive year, with family law partners Sharon Giles and Jonathan Eager also ranking in the Cheltenham and surrounding area’s highest band.
Also featuring in the Chambers UK 2023 department rankings for the South West are Willans’ agriculture & estates, corporate & commercial, litigation & dispute resolution and real estate teams.

Five other recommended individual lawyers have moved up a tier this year, including solicitor Robin Beckley and partners Nigel Whittaker, Paul Gordon, Matthew Clayton and Chris Wills. As well as these recommendations, associate solicitor Charlotte Cowdell has been recognised as an ‘associate to watch’ for the second year running.

This news follows more impressive Chambers UK ranking results for Willans, having already celebrated senior partner Paul Gordon and partner Simon Cook’s recognition by the global researchers in their annual High Net Worth guide this July.

Paired with the firm’s recent triumph in the latest Legal 500 UK ratings – its best ever with 48 recommendations overall – 2023 is shaping up to be a strong year for Willans.

Commenting on the news, managing partner, Bridget Redmond said: “This year’s results are an outstanding achievement for a firm of our size and they demonstrate, yet again, that we really punch above our weight. We are incredibly proud of the teams and individuals named.

“Chambers UK’s research methods are extremely thorough and include thousands of interviews with clients every year, so to have received such recognition really shows our lawyers’ calibre and depth of expertise.”
Chambers and Partners work with in-house counsel and third-party experts, such as barristers and accountants, to compile these detailed rankings. Read the full list of results at www.chambers.com.
