Target’s fantastic five-figure fundraising

Three years of fundraising has culminated in Cheltenham-based communications agency, Target, handing over a huge £20,000 to Hope for Tomorrow, the Gloucestershire charity that is dedicated to bringing cancer care closer to patients’ homes.

Chosen as the team’s nominated cause to support back in 2019, the 14 Mobile Cancer Care Units run by the Gloucestershire-based charity, allow cancer patients to receive vital treatment without having to travel long distances. Relying solely on donations to keep the units on the road, the role of fundraising is crucial.

Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, and thanks to the generosity of those who made donations and supported fundraising events, the Target team was able to raise its biggest total ever, including £9,000 from its annual golf day earlier this year, another record amount.

“The relationship we built with Hope for Tomorrow over three years went beyond just fundraising,” said Sarah Bryars, Chief Executive at Target. “Right from the start they made sure we understood how valuable their service is and the difference it makes to patients. This was then brought into sharper focus when we went into lockdown. While the majority of the money was raised from our golf days, we also took on a walking challenge, made donations in lieu of Christmas presents and donated unwanted items, like clothes, from home.

“We’re absolutely over the moon to have raised so much money for Hope for Tomorrow and are proud that it will go a little way to helping take away some of the stress from patients going through cancer treatment. And we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that supported our fundraising efforts. Our charity fundraising is really important to us as a team, it’s something we enjoy doing, but it wouldn’t be possible without the ongoing support of others.”

Tina Seymour, Hope for Tomorrow Chief Executive, said: “We’re extremely grateful to the team at Target, and all of their supporters, for their generous and kind donations. Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust took delivery of the world’s first mobile cancer care unit from us in 2007 and now we provide them to 11 NHS trusts across the country. Last year, over 26,000 cancer treatments took place on them. This donation will make a huge difference to many cancer patients during a difficult time in their lives.
