This Construction Focus examined Building Information Modelling (BIM), the future of intelligent design. Expert in his field Jason Whittall, Director of One Creative Environments Ltd has spoken at BIM Live and many other well-known events making him a credible source on this subject. At this Construction Focus we looked at the importance of BIM and the future of BIM. How BIM can save the client many thousands of pounds over a period of time, create a more productive and efficient solution to building maintenance. BIM provides the perfect solution to construction management and efficiency – why isn’t it more widely used and what is the future of BIM?
One Ltd call it 360 degrees thinking – an all round approach to best practice for the client.
Unfortunately there are still many organisations and contractor that need to adopt BIM and learn more about its full capability and positive impact on the construction sector. We hope to see BIM become a standard going forward, where all in construction have a better understanding of its capabilities from the outset of a project, allowing better information flow between all involved. BIM should be ideally incorporated from the beginning of a project, used properly and effectively can then go on to save the clients thousand and thousands of pounds, brought in late then becomes a more difficult task and in turn more costly for the client.
BIM provides a means of creating and managing virtually every aspect of a building’s design and engineering in a three-dimensional model with attributed data which can be shared by multiple authorised users. It offers huge benefits to clients, designer teams, contractors and their supply chain – saving time and money in the long run.
One Ltd work at BIM level 2 maturity with industry qualifications including RICS certified BIM Manager and BRE BIM accredited professional and are certified to deliver projects to BIM Level 2, making them leaders in their field. They have invested heavily in the BIM process being an early adopter with their first BIM project taking place in 2012, since this time they have gone on to work on many projects and indeed advise and consult on many other. They believe this is the future of intelligent design and best practice.
