National Star launches a recruitment drive for new trustees and governors

National Star, one of the UK’s leading disability charities, is looking for new trustees and governors to join the charity.

A number of committed and exceptional people, who share National Star’s vision of a world in which people with disabilities are able to realise their potential as equal and active citizens in control of their lives, are being recruited into the voluntary roles.

In terms of new Trustees the charity is looking to recruit Trustees with experience in:

  • Human Resources
  • Marketing and Communication
  • Fundraising
  • Estate Management

In terms of new Governors the charity is looking to recruit people with experience in:

  • Staff training
  • Beneficiary engagement
  • Vocational learning
  • Health strategy/commissioning

As either a Trustee or Governor you will be part of a highly respected national charity, investing in services that will enhance the lives and independence of young people with complex disabilities and learning disabilities. National Star is a charity and company and, as such, Trustees are also company directors, with the legal responsibility that accompanies that role.

National Star is a Disability Confident Employer. Applicants for these voluntary roles should be able to demonstrate independent judgement and be willing to speak out,’ said David Ellis, Chief Executive at National Star.

Applicants are asked to submit one side of A4, expressing their interest in the role and outlining why they want to be a Trustee or Governor at National Star as well as a CV demonstrating their relevant experience to Ali McEwan amcewan@nationalstar.org by 24 September 2021 at 5pm. Interviews will be held in October and the panel will comprise of Chief Executive David Ellis and existing members of the Trustee board/Governing body.

Trustee and Governor roles at National Star are voluntary. Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed. Both roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check.
