Local Business Support Grants for Pubs, Clubs, Bars and Restaurants and Travel Businesses Close on 7th January

The grants, from Cheltenham Borough Council, are open for application from now until 7 January 2022.  Eligible businesses can apply now via the council’s website: www.cheltenham.gov.uk/covid-19-business-grants.

A new round of the council’s discretionary business grant scheme is now live, offering financial support to Cheltenham pubs, clubs bars restaurants and travel businesses.

The council is aware that businesses in the hospitality sector in particular are currently experiencing a lack of custom and cancellations, as Covid and the new Omicron variant continues to spread over the Christmas period. This scheme is in advance and in addition to the Government announcement of financial support for hospitality businesses on 21 December.

The exact value of the grants will be determined once all applications have been received and assessed.

Cllr Peter Jeffries, cabinet member for finance, said: “Our local businesses have been incredibly resilient throughout the pandemic and I do not under-estimate how much they are being affected by Covid during what would usually be a critical trading period in the run up to Christmas. We’ve made this scheme available now so that we can get payments out to businesses early in the New Year while we’re waiting for more details on the new Government scheme.”
