International Women’s Day – C2S Inspiring Women in Business Event – 8th March 2022

Every year C2S celebrates International Women’s Day (IWD). We acknowledge and celebrate Inspiring Women in Business and actively promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

This year, we returned to our in-person format with the event hosted at the Cheltenham Ladies College. We were delighted to be joined by 90 guests to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of women in business.

The event was open to everyone and was an opportunity to celebrate inspiring women in business, raise the profile of the benefits to working together for a more inclusive, diverse working environment where everyone has equity and equality.

International Womens Day

The IWD 2022 campaign theme: #BreakTheBias

Imagine a gender equal world.

A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Together we can forge women’s equality.

Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

This is what some of the attendees had to say:

“A very heartfelt thanks to the speakers who opened up so honestly with what breaking the bias meant to them. It was refreshing and exactly what I needed to hear. We’ve got this ladies.”

“Such an uplifting day, with talks from incredible women with real stories on overcoming adversity and tackling unconscious bias whilst building super successful businesses. ‘Invigorating’ was my word of the day!”

“A really inspiring and uplifting event from  today to celebrate #InternationalWomensDay – fantastic to be with 100 women in business sharing stories, reconnecting and inspiring each other. #BreakTheBias Great as always to see so many familiar faces from this brilliant network.”

Nicola Whiting MBE, Best-selling author; engaging public speaker and award-winning mentor

Nicola’s talk resonated with many in the room, with many taking home the message “Run your own race“. Nicola, co-owner of Titania Ltd, gave an engaging and inspiring talk about Imposter Syndrome.

“I love your imposter syndrome talk Nicola Whiting MBE and I’ll run my own race and continue to keep that success file (and I told my 13 year old daughter to do the same this evening.)”

Nicola gave us ideas for our own toolkits to help us succeed and #BreakTheBias:

“Run your own race”

“Be as kind to yourself – as you are to others”

“Perfection isn’t a life goal”

Just some of the tools we all need to remind ourselves everyday! Thank you Nicola for giving us an insight into your experiences, how to celebrate our achievements, and continue personal development.

Alice Roizer, Early Careers Group Team Lead and Senior Engineer, L3Harris Technologies

Alice Roizer L3Harris Technologies International Women's Day

Alice truly inspired us with her unfaltering commitment to #BreakTheBias, striving and believing in yourself to achieve your own goals. She wowed the audience with her clear passion for encouraging more girls into careers in STEM and Engineering sectors. Alice took us on her personal story and recounted how she was the minority in both education and her career. She unapologetically explained developing her own unique and authentic style to ensure she, and women like her, have a voice.

L3Harris plays an active role in working towards a resolution through their STEM outreach initiatives. Alice took us through the fantastic work they are doing to inspire women into the engineering, cyber and defence sectors.

Janis Sinton, Managing Director, TasteTech

Janis Sinton TasteTech International Women's Day

Janis joined us to speak at C2S Inspiring Women in Business event for International Women’s Day 2022, on what is TasteTech’s 30th year in business, highlighting her resilience and successes with TasteTech.

Experience the journey from founding TasteTech in 1992, Roger’s sudden death in 2007, and Janis taking over as Managing Director. She told us how she didn’t think twice: “There’s more to a business than building and selling it on“. Janis talked us through how TasteTech doubled in size, increased turnover and profitability within five years. TasteTech not only reached but exceeded that target. The team are now looking to increase turnover to £12m and build a bespoke new factory by 2024. There is no doubt Janis will achieve with her fantastic team!

Eve Jardine-Young, Principal, Cheltenham Ladies College

Eve inspired the audience with her personal journey, choosing a career path, and how she came to be Principal at Cheltenham Ladies College. What we do today shapes the future of young women. Eve encouraged us to ‘Teach Last’. Build a career, our knowledge, and experience first. Then, we should consider going into teaching later on to pass our learning the next generations.
