Leading property services specialist Ian Williams has recently been awarded the contract to deliver kitchen and bathroom upgrades on behalf of south London housing association, Wandle Housing. The programme which covers 7,000 homes in nine of the south London boroughs including Croydon and Lambeth, is valued at £4.1 million for up to 2 years.
Ian Williams’ General Manager Stuart Weddle comments: “We are delighted to secure this contract with Wandle which builds on previous programmes we’ve worked on with them. As well as being familiar with the often-challenging logistics of working within London, we have also proven that we can deliver works safely, professionally and to a high standard. Other drivers behind our appointment include competitive prices thanks to the fact that we directly employ most trades and our operative teams are multi-disciplinary. We were also able to demonstrate a commitment to social value which will help maintain a sustainable bond between Ian Williams and Wandle. In addition to supporting local community projects, we’ve already started a recruitment drive to appoint staff from within the Wandle boroughs.
‘Perhaps most importantly, Ian Williams’ experience of working within occupied properties, often with residents who are vulnerable or older, will be invaluable to this programme. It can be stressful having such an integral part of your home like a bathroom or kitchen replaced while you’re living in the house. We have a dedicated RLO who will assist every step of the way and the programme mobilisation will include a comprehensive set of communications such as resident packs which detail every step of the process. We look forward to working with Wandle to upgrade their housing stock and improve the living standards of their residents.”
Heather Langridge, Interim Head of Asset Management at Wandle comments: “We’re committed to providing homes to be proud of and our partnership with Ian Williams means that we can continue to provide our residents with homes that are modern, warm and safe.
“Extending our contract was a natural step for us as we plan to expand on our offer to ensure our homes, in the communities we work in, are maintained to a decent standard.
Ian Williams has already proven that they share these values and we are impressed by their approach to diversity when it comes to working in Wandle residents’ homes.”
