Free Age-Friendly Employer Support

age-friendly employers

Employers in the Malvern Hills and Wychavon Districts of Worcestershire can benefit from free support to help them become a more age-friendly employer.  Helen Astill of Cherington HR has been appointed to run some free workshops and provide 1:1 support for local businesses between March and June 2022, as well as resources to help them develop their own age-friendly working practices.

Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils have received more than £283,000 from the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund to support a range of activities to boost skills, help businesses grow and support people into work as part of the Upskilling in Malvern Hills and Wychavon project.

As part of the programme, the Councils are looking to provide support for local employers to develop age friendly working practices. The aim is to enable businesses to both recruit older employees and retain older employees where they wish to remain in the work force, by adopting new management practices and policies.

Cherington HR, part of HR Solutions, has been appointed to help deliver this support to Malvern Hills and Wychavon businesses, so it you are based in either of the districts and want to take advantage of this free support, please get in touch asap.

Helen will be running two workshops to help businesses discuss and start to develop their age-friendly working practices and policies. Each business can send a delegate free of charge to one of the sessions. If you wish to attend, you have the choice of one on 21st March from 2.00pm – 5.00pm in The Council Chamber, Avenue Road, Malvern, WR14 3AF or on Tuesday 22nd March from 2.00pm to 5.00pm in The Council Chamber, The Civic Centre, Pershore WR10 1PT

During the workshops, delegates will be given a free resource pack and have an opportunity to explore what is done at present if anything to encourage the recruitment and retention of older employees and how they can make their workforce more productive as a result. In addition, you will be given access to an online resource hub as part of the programme. You will come away from the workshop with an action plan and some tools and ideas that will allow you to make positive changes in your business. There will also be free 1:1 follow up meetings for any businesses who would like additional support in implementing their age-friendly policies. These will be held either face-to-face or by video conference to fit in with your business commitments.

Furthermore, if your business is unable to send a delegate to either of the workshops, you can still access the free 1:1 support which will be is available from March along with access to the resources and tools mentioned above.
