At our very popular C2S Social ‘Meet The Neighbour’ we visit different locations around the county to invite local businesses along to make great connections and get to know each other, supporting the local supply chain and local investment. This weeks ‘Meet the Neighbour’ took place at Omega Resource Group at Bond’s Mill, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. Omega Resource Group have been tenants there with Robert Hitchins for nearly 20 years, starting life with just a small office of 2,000 sq. ft to now having grown substantially with office space of 9,000 sq. ft. At ‘Meet the Neighbour’ we learnt about the history of this site and had the chance to take a look round the Gatehouse, this was originally built as a pillbox with gun turret against the threat of German invasion in 1940. Bond’s Mill was one of the largest Cotswold woollen mills in Gloucestershire up to the 1930s. Records note a mill here in 1491 and part of the site still dates back to the early 1700s. The Mill was utilized in World War II as a back-up shadow factory supplementing the operations of the main factory in Brentwood, Middlesex to avoid air attacks. Great to see so many local businesses catching up over coffee and pastries, big thank you to Omega Resource Group for hosting and the great breakfast spread. Look forward to seeing you at the Next ‘Meet The Neighbour’ at Midlands Communications, Tewkesbury on 2nd May 8 – 9.30am.
