About the event

Sustainability is a massive and many faceted concept and means different things to different people. It is easy for organisations to focus on carbon and energy reduction (because they get most of the airtime) but there is so much more to it and it’s vital that organisations start to think in a more integrated and holistic way to reduce risk and reap the benefits …..of which there are many!

This session will look at how to tell your sustainability story. It outlines the benefits to brand reputation, profile, increased staff motivation, recruiting new (and especially younger) staff plus attracting new customers that businesses experience when they actively publicise their green commitments. The second part consists of some top tips for how a business can effectively communicate its sustainability work to boost all the above and avoid accusations of greenwashing.

The session will be facilitated by Green Spark’s founder and Creative Director Caroline Aistrop:

“I was 13 when I decided to work in wildlife conservation and have been passionate about saving the natural world ever since. Nature fascinated me when I was child and it still does: there’s always something new to learn, to see and to share. It’s enriched my working and personal life beyond measure, and I’ve met to so many fascinating people.

However, I’m also incurably curious about people and love finding out more about their stories hidden away because most of us think we’re not doing anything interesting (which is sooo English). It’s absolutely the opposite – I find the ‘everyday’ stories are compelling, inspiring and anything but ordinary, and I love being able to tell them to inspire others to believe they, too, can make a difference.

Green Spark utilise the knowledge and experience gained from more than 30 years of developing and delivering environmental communications and campaigns plus time in environmental journalism to delivery relevant content for clients .  All of this has been at local, regional and national levels: from inspiring communities at the grass-roots to running UK-wide public awareness campaigns; and from reporting about rural affairs on a local radio Sony award-winning magazine programme to producing an environmental news programme for Radio Four.
