About the event
We are delighted to extend an invitation from the Bank of England to attend an Economic Briefing session as part of our C2S Talks To…series in partnership with the University of Gloucestershire and Brewin Dolphin.
The Banks quarterly Inflation Reports set out the economic analysis and inflation projections that the Monetary Policy Committee uses to make its interest rate decisions. These reports are disseminated throughout the country via the Bank’s Agents. These briefing sessions with the business community are a way of engaging with local businesses.
The Bank’s agents operate from 12 agencies across the UK. Agents have one-to-one confidential conversations with businesses and community organisations in their area. They hold local events so people can share views and experiences.
They meet hundreds of contacts, from small businesses and community organisations to large global companies. They gather insight into all sectors of the economy.
Malindi Myers became an Agent for the South West area in April 2018. Before she joined the Bank of England, Malindi worked for HM Treasury; the Office for National Statistics; the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the European Commission. She worked mainly on economic policy formulation and appraisal, and providing the evidence to underpin economic policy.
This is a great opportunity to hear a high level overview on what is happening in the economy, ask questions and talk to other business leaders. These are off the record discussions with no press reporting.
These have always been very popular sessions and definitely one to have in the diary. Given the current high level of uncertainty it will be useful to get a view from the Bank of England.
