Encore director wins mentoring place

Founder and director of Encore Communications Elizabeth Laidler has won a place on the prestigious Women in PR/PR Week mentoring programme for 2021.

The programme was launched in 2014 to identify, nurture and inspire the next generation of female leaders in the PR industry. Women can face different challenges to men as they step up the career ladder, whether they are working in-house, in an agency or as a freelance practitioner. These include navigating a boardroom often dominated by men, negotiating equal pay or juggling work and family or caring responsibilities.

The scheme matches candidates with women operating in very senior positions within the UK PR industry to help them confidently and successfully overcome their unique challenges to progress their careers and achieve their ultimate ambitions.

“I’m really pleased to have this opportunity to learn from some of the leading lights of our industry and hone my future plans for the business.

“Having established Encore Communications in the midst of the 2008/9 recession, I’m proud of how the business has grown over the last decade, delivering high-quality, flexible marketing communications support to our customers while keeping agile working at its heart. That approach has stood the business in good stead during the Covid pandemic and I’m looking forward to working closely with my mentor to map out our next steps.”

The mentoring programme lasts for 12 months and is open to female practitioners of public relations who have 5 or more years’ experience and are working at director level or equivalent.
