WSP Solicitors’ Family Law Department see the effects domestic abuse has on families, individuals and children on an extremely regular basis. Approximately 1 in 5 adults in England and Wales have experienced domestic abuse (ONS: Nov 2022).

Domestic abuse takes many forms and is not always physical or visible. Domestic abuse can also be emotional, financial, sexual, digital, coercive and psychological.

WSP Solicitors have brought together local and national experts to raise awareness about domestic abuse in all its forms; with the aim of informing and educating our Gloucestershire community.

Keasha Kellam founded Honour Thy Woman, a community support group in Gloucestershire that supports domestic abuse survivors in the local area. Keasha will be speaking as a victim dealing with the abuse she suffered.

David Challen is a domestic abuse campaigner, writer and keynote speaker. He successfully campaigned to free his mother Sally Challen in a landmark appeal recognising the lifetime of coercive control she suffered in 2019.

David continues to speak out against men’s violence against women, coercive control and the impact of domestic abuse on children, as well as men’s role in tackling misogyny.

The panel will include Lydia Andrews (WSP Solicitors), Linsey Filby (Barnardo’s), Beth Hughes (The Nelson Trust) and Simran Kamal (Albion Chambers).

The exhibitors on the day will be Gloucestershire Domestic Abuse Support Service (GDASS), Gloucestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (GRASAC), The Hollie Gazzard Trust, Honor Thy Woman, The Nelson Trust, PRG-Fearless, Street and WSP Solicitors. More TBA.

This is a not for profit event.
