Ian Renton, Cheltenham and South West Regional Director of The Jockey Club

Ian Renton has worked for The Jockey Club for the last eight years as Regional Director of Cheltenham Racecourse, while overseeing Warwick, Wincanton and Exeter Racecourses. Ian has worked within the racing industry for 35 years, so has a wealth of experience in the sports & leisure sphere.

Home to the biggest Jump racing Festival in the world, Cheltenham Racecourse sees over 260,000 people flock to Gloucestershire over the four days, having an economic impact of £100 million to the local economy and bringing the eyes of the nation to the town of Cheltenham.

The Jockey Club stages thrilling sporting occasions including the Randox Health Grand National, The Cheltenham Festival presented by Magners and The Investec Derby. Millions of people every year enjoy the special experiences we offer through racing, music, food and entertainment on racedays and beyond.

Governed by Royal Charter, every penny we make goes back into British Racing to help the sport to thrive. We were founded in 1750 and today we are the largest commercial group in Britain’s second-biggest spectator sport with a  turnover of over £200 million, operating 15 racecourses nationwide, The National Stud, Jockey Club Estates, Jockey Club Catering, Jockey Club Live, Jockey Club Services and our charity, Racing Welfare.
