BioPak launch sustainability initiative to make English football greener with Birmingham County FA

To celebrate Earth Day (22nd April), Birmingham County FA’s award winning ‘Save Today, Play Tomorrow’ programme has launched a new sustainability initiative to bring more sustainable food and drink packaging to football clubs across the West Midlands.

The initiative, launched in partnership with packaging specialists, BioPak, will offer football clubs in the region the exclusive chance to gain a 10% discount on switching their cups, burger boxes and other packaging to BioPak’s environmentally friendlier range. Clubs of all sizes are being encouraged to take part in the initiative, from grassroots to the professional level.

Richard Lindsay, Sustainability and Insights Manager at the Birmingham County FA, said: “We know that football has a global reach and fanbase, so it’s important for us at a regional level to lead responsibly on how to enjoy the beautiful game in a way that isn’t so costly for the planet. By collaborating with BioPak, we are helping football clubs by offering them a more sustainable alternative to how they package consumable items that will lessen their environmental footprint and become a more affordable way for them to introduce products which are friendlier to our planet.”

Leanne Osborne, Managing Director of BioPak UK, added: “We’re proud to be working together with the Birmingham County FA to make our nation’s favourite sport greener, and offer more affordable prices on packaging that is much friendlier for the planet than plastic alternatives. We’ve provided a wide range of packaging to high profile clubs in the past and we look forward to rolling this initiative out more widely.”
