FUTURE MANUFACTURING FOCUS ONLINE EVENTS.

Digital Transformation and 5G

Wed 8th September 2021 10.00am – 11.00am

Introduction:

“The factories of the future are embracing 5G – are you?

A recent study found that 74% of manufacturing leaders are considering upgrading their communications networks by 2022. It’s clear that 5G – with its private network capability and designed-in security allowing for low latency and high bandwidth – has a leading role to play, and projects are already underway to explore how this ground-breaking technology can benefit the manufacturing industry.

West Midlands 5G (WM5G) have worked with partners (Worcestershire 5G (W5G), BT, The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) near Coventry and A E Aerospace), undertaking a range of use cases to demonstrate how 5G can accelerate productivity in manufacturing environments.

WM5G and its partners are keen to share the results and learnings from the use case trials to help inform British manufacturing to accelerate productivity and efficiency, demonstrating how 5G can support manufacturing operations in the UK and beyond.

 This session will provide:

  • an overview of what 5G is (not just a better 4G!) – to raise awareness and demonstrate the benefits
  • information on why 5G is a key enabler for manufacturing’s transition to Industry 4.0; look at examples of where 5G has been used and the benefits it has already and will deliver in the future
  • details of 5G and the opportunity with the MTC programme
  • What we have learnt to-date – sharing our experiences”

Smart Factory

Tues 9th November 2021 10.00am – 11.00am

Introduction:

“The journey towards a Smart Factory of the future.”

This webinar aims to help explain the concepts, the decisions and the roadmap needed to embark on your journey towards a future Smart Factory – it is the road to resilience.

The session will include topics such as:

 The history behind Smart Factory

  • What is a Smart Factory?
  • Deciding where to start
  • Industrial Digital Technologies (Big data & Analytics, Industrial Internet of Things, Simulation, Mixed Reality, Automation & Robotics, The Cloud, and more…)
  • Digital Dashboards
  • Machine connectivity
  • The “Factory in a Box” concept

It is clear that smarter ways to manufacture are going to be even more essential than ever to drive not just productivity, but overall competitiveness for UK companies in the global market place. Helping to also realise other benefits around sustainability and wider societal impacts.

If any of these drivers capture your current aspirations for your business, then you should be considering how the Smart Factory benefits could help you.
