Every year we celebrate International Women’s day to acknowledge and celebrate inspiring women in business and promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

This year was no different with our online event on 12th March 2021 and a live event booked for 30th June 2021 when lockdown restrictions have been lifted and we can once again enjoy large events in a safe environment – we hope you will join us!.

Friday 12th March 2021 was our Inspiring Women Online Event

C2S  Celebrated International Women’s Day with a line-up of exceptional speakers, an update from some of last year’s speakers on what the last 12-months had been like for them, the changes they had made and challenges they had faced.

A hot topic in the news at present is the negative impact the pandemic has had on women in business, the loss of jobs, a greater divide in the gender pay gap which has set us back years and the challenges many women face to juggle work and family life post pandemic. Katharine Finn, Partner at PwC shared with us their annual Women’s Report 2021 which highlighted the issues and challenges ahead for women in business (full report below)

The event was open to everyone in business, men and women and an opportunity to celebrate inspiring women in business, to reboot, reinvigorate and work together for a more inclusive, diverse working environment where both men and women work together equally and with parity.

During the event attendees heard for our inspiring speakers and enjoyed connecting, engaging and collaborating in the C2S live lounge where they can move themselves around the room to catch up and meet new people.

A huge thank you to Lucy Beresford Joint Managing Director of SLG Beauty, Katharine Finn Partner at PwC, Lorrin White CEO of Bamboo technology , Nicola Bell, Safety and New Business Director of KW Bell and Heyma Holmes Partner at BPE Solicitors for their honesty and for sharing their stories and inspiring us all – thank you.

Lucy was kind enough to re-join us from last year’s event at Dean Close School and provided an update on the last 12 months, what had happened in the business, how they had managed the pandemic, the impact on international trade, supply chain, customer buying habits, the launch of new products and like many women managed home schooling of 2 young children.

Katharine Finn – Partner PwC

Katharine shared with us the finding of the 9th annual Women’s Report from PwC looking at the economic empowerment, employment outcomes and gender equality.  Shocking in some respects as women will struggle harder due to the pandemic to close the diversity gap and gender pay gap. Although the South West faired best in dealing with these issues this is a real concern for women in business and we must all build back better and be mindful of these challenges.
